The David Hockney Challenge was just the beginning…..

About

Living in Lincolnshire? Enjoy sewing and up for a challenge? If you answer yes to both of these you too could join LINQS.  Our first challenge was to create a quilt or quilts inspired by the work of David Hockney.  For 2016/17 we will be making quilts inspired by any aspect of the life and works of Sir Isaac Newton.  The work can be any technique or style including traditional but must have 3 layers so that it is a quilt. Quilts can be made by an individual or a group. We welcome those who have been quilting for years and equally anyone who has never attempted this craft before but is willing to “have a go”.

The quilts can be either 30 x 40 inches or, if you prefer to work smaller, they can be 30 x40 cms.

We are asking for a small contribution towards costs of £10 per person (non returnable). We will also be applying for grants. We are negotiating with several prestigious galleries to exhibit these works and also a quilt show organiser. We want to show the world what talent the quilters of Lincolnshire have!

This isn’t a competition, there will be no winners or losers but lots of encouragement, inspiration and a chance to step out of our comfort zone (should we chose to) and get creative.

The hand over date for completed Isaac Newton quilts will be 6th May 2017.

To register your interest and join us on this exciting journey please send a cheque for £10 made payable to LINQS and addressed to Mary Jackson 104 High Street, Billinghay, Lincoln, LN4 4ED. Please label the envelope LINQS and include your email address. We are currently putting together an information package which will be sent out to participants. If you have any queries you can contact us at linqs3@gmail.com

I think it was a very good meeting. We all said we had enjoyed it in the car going home. It’s very helpful to be able to talk things through with other enthusiasts and from different disciplines as well.
