The David Hockney Challenge was just the beginning…..

Anne Dolan has sent in several interesting photographs which show how she is progressing her two DH quilts.

The first is inspired by Hockney’s tapestry design which he based on the poem “The Blue Guitar”.  Anne has based her 30cm x 40 cm design on a poem called “Tall Nettles”.

In the early 1980s, Hockney began to produce photo-collages, which he called “joiners,” first of Polaroid prints and later of 35mm, commercially processed color prints. Using varying numbers of Polaroid snaps or photo lab prints of a single subject Hockney arranged a patchwork to make a composite image.  Anne has taken this method of working as her inspiration for her 40cm x 30 cm quilt, Belton House.
